The Telegraph rates Hotel La Casa del Califa 9 out of 10. Regarding the rooms, whose restyling I’ve had the honor to carry out, the British newspaper says that ‘The 20 cocooning rooms have been given a boho-cool makeover by Vejer-based Scottish designer Ellie Cormié, mixing warmly rich palettes – burgundy, olive green, mango yellow – with the gorgeous original terracotta floors, wooden beams and vaulted ceilings. Antique wardrobes, statement lamps, textile wall hangings, custom-made artisanal headboards and even 18th-century Persian prints bring each room its own personality. Some are set in former stables; others overlook the town plaza. Those on the top floor have views of Vejer’s whitewashed homes cascading down the hillside, while junior suites Sol and Limón look out over the gardens.
